This is not the first issue Surface Pro owners have complained about, as they have also reported their devices often get stuck in reboot loops after Windows 10 version 1607 is installed. The new reports reveal that apps crash soon after users launch them: Cortana and Skype don’t work, MP4’s and YouTube won’t play, I.E/Edge keeps freezing, and the system generally is slower especially when opening Office applications and pulling data from OneDrive/SharePoint.
Anniversary Update crashes and freezes apps on Surface Pro 3, 4 devices
Users have also run the Windows Update troubleshooter, which indeed detected and repaired some errors. However, as soon as users restart their Surface devices, the apps crash again, and the system lag appears once again. Surface Pro 3 & 4 haven’t seemed to take the update well at all. Most people are reporting that they keep crashing, I.E/Edge keeps freezing and if you come back after the surface has gone in to power save it is not waking up correctly and the only way to get in to the surface is to hard restart the device. For the time being, Microsoft hasn’t issued any comments on this matter, and its Support engineers haven’t replied yet to the threads where users describe the issues the Anniversary Update is causing to their Surface Pro 3, 4 devices.
